Khopra Ridge Trekking

Do you fancy a short, adventurous trek with beautiful views far away from the tourist crowds? Then this trek is just right for you!

Khopra Ridge is located in the heart of the Annapurna region and is hardly known as a trekking destination. Instead of staying on the well-trodden paths, one ventures through the traditional villages of the Magar, Gurung, Kami, Chhetri and Brahmin people. At the end of the trek you even visit Ghandruk, the largest Gurung settlement in the Annapurna region. The direct contact with the local population gives you a unique insight into their culture and way of life.

The trek leads through various vegetation zones and thus offers a broad range of flora, fauna, and landscapes: On the one hand the jungle trails take you through dense forests with spruce, fir, rhododendrons and bamboo, on the other hand you steep, narrow paths take you through the mountains. A wide range of wild animals can be observed along the way, such as monkeys, deer, yaks, blue sheep and various species of birds.

In addition, you are surrounded by breathtaking panoramic views of the snow-covered peaks of the Himalayas, such as the Annapurna (8,091 m) and the Machhapuchhre (6,997 m). The sunrise and sunset are particularly impressive when the valley is filled with clouds and the Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) - the 7th highest mountain in the world - towers above them.

If you want to, you can also take a day to hike to the holy Khayar Lake (4,600 m). From here, you have the most stunning views of the surrounding peaks and landscapes.

After the trek, there are two more highlights:

a relaxed stay in Pokhara (an idyllic, traditional village)    /  a jungle safari in Chitwan National Park
